The Best Vacuum Sealers for Freezing Garden Produce (2026)

When the garden gives you more than you can eat or can, the freezer is the easiest way to save it, and a vacuum sealer makes that food last. Sealed airtight, frozen produce keeps 2 to 3 years without freezer burn, versus a few months in a zip bag. Here are two sealers worth owning.

How we picked

We looked for a strong, repeatable seal, reasonable bag cost, and simple controls. A sealer that needs three tries to seal a bag wastes bags and your evening, so a reliable one-press seal matters most.

One tip that saves money: buy bags in rolls and cut them to size. Pre-cut bags cost more per seal, and rolls let you size the bag to the food.

Our picks

  1. Best overall for regular use

    Premium Vacuum Sealer

    Best overall

    • Strong suction and a wide seal bar handle big batches of beans, corn, and berries without re-sealing.
    • Moist-food setting seals juicy produce that trips up cheaper units.
    • Downside: it takes up counter or shelf space and costs the most here, so skip it if you only freeze a few bags a year.
  2. Best value for occasional use

    Value Vacuum Sealer

    Best value

    • Seals well for a fraction of the price and stores in a drawer.
    • Plenty for a household that freezes a few harvests each summer.
    • Downside: it needs a rest between bags so the seal bar can cool, so a huge batch goes slower.

Questions, answered straight

How long does vacuum-sealed food last in the freezer?

About 2 to 3 years without freezer burn, compared with a few months in a regular zip bag. Vacuum sealing removes the air that dries and burns frozen food.

Do I need to blanch vegetables before freezing?

Most vegetables freeze best blanched first (a quick boil, then an ice bath) to stop the enzymes that cause off flavors. Berries and herbs you can freeze without blanching.

Can I vacuum seal liquids and soups?

Freeze them solid first, then seal. Sealing liquid straight from the pot gets sucked into the machine. Freeze in a container, pop out the block, then seal it.

Are the bags reusable?

Often yes, if they held dry food. Wash, dry, and reseal them. Bags that held raw meat or oily food should be tossed.
