How Zone Race works
Every time a grower logs a sowing in their PlotToTable plan, it counts toward their USDA hardiness zone's weekly tally. Zone Race shows each zone's most-planted crops for the current week as percentages, so you can see what people in your climate band are putting in the ground right now, not what a generic chart says they should.
Two honesty rules: numbers are always aggregated (we hide small counts entirely, so a quiet zone shows nothing rather than something traceable), and a zone is a coarse climate band, not a schedule. Two gardens in the same zone can have last-frost dates three weeks apart, which is why your planting calendar and every plan we build use your ZIP code's own frost dates instead. Use Zone Race for the pulse, your frost dates for the trigger.
The race resets every Monday. Early spring belongs to onions, peas, and brassicas in the cold zones while zones 9 and 10 are already setting out tomatoes; by late summer the whole map flips to fall greens and garlic. Log what you sow and your zone moves up the board.
